2017, the year where everything is put under a microscope, cut open and criticised. Now I know I’m going to offend a few people by this post as If I don’t already but… One of the best parts about being alive in the world today is that there is freedom of speech (You know, except in North Korea). In my generation to be specific we wake up “woke” and ready to counter anything that comes out way; That’s good! We should always be aware of the society we live in, at the end of the day I Think we are way to crucial about things. One can assume they can’t wear dreads because they’re white, one cannot drive and own an expensive car because they are black and one cannot have a relationship like that because they person doesn’t “SEEM” nice
In a society where we preach equality, forgiveness and kindness, why do we only use it when it suits us. I’m not saying white people don’t appropriate black culture, I’m no saying ALL police pull over only people of colour. What I am saying is that not everything needs to be combed with a metal comb. If the person’s intentions are good, then why not?
Although, I suppose I won’t understand any of it “because I am white.” Ultimately playing a race card where it isn’t needed. Again, I don’t mean to offend anyone… I just feel that there are way more important things. Feel free to leave your opinion in comments below.
I hope the video I’m sharing with you today makes my point of you less vague. Thanks
“Woke is a slang term that is easing into the mainstream from some varieties of a dialect called African American Vernacular English (sometimes called AAVE). In AAVE, awake is often rendered as woke, as in, “I was sleeping, but now I’m woke.” ‘Woke’ is increasingly used as a byword for social awareness.”
