I’ve probably never had a normal dream. Maybe it’s the excess amount of cheese I consume or maybe it’s because I’m a super genius. Probably the second one, I know.
Before I get in to the types of dreams I have, I want to discuss illusions. In the 6th grade my cousin Brendon and I had a conversations about sleep and dreams. Is the dream “five seconds” long, just before you wake up OR does it take hours to unfold in slow motion? – I personally think it’s the first one.
I’ve only ever had trouble falling in to deep sleep once or twice as a teen, so that Isn’t currently an issue for me. But I believe (correct me if I’m wrong) dreaming occurs during your deep sleep, the part of your sleep where you are out cold. You then come back to normal sleep before you wake up- even if yo wake up from a nightmare or etc..
The earliest dream I can remember is my alien abduction. Yes, My Alien Abduction. I have this dream all the time, every few years. It starts off with my parents being stolen, Then I go through an ‘energy tunnel’, it physically feels like i’m being sucked through a tunnel that’s shooting energy at me. It goes back and forth from smooth to sand paper-esk energy tunnel. till I snap out of it and just sleep. Don’t ask me what happened in my life for this dream to occur. No clue.
Another dream I can never seem to remember to forget is the monkeys. At the time I had a friend called YOLO, yes yolo. In the dream we are walking up my balustrade and all of a sudden ‘vermin’? monkeys chase us up the stairs. I quickly run to the bathroom, Yolo clearly now not in the dream.. did he die? i don’t know. I am then safe in the dream. I can sleep.
I don’t think I can say I have never laughed at the idea of someone peeing on their bed because they were peeing in their dream. But. I have done that. At 19. I cannot remember who what when why, but All I remember is that it was ‘safe’ to pee. I feel a nice warm sensation in my bed. I wake up in quick shock… (more like a lot of fuck words). I later had to clean my bed which cost me an arm and a leg. The idea haunts me.
